    Review text
Lipstick pink and handbag-sized, this little book is written for the Bridget Jones generation. The author has contributed to She, New Woman and Marie Claire and the style is light-hearted, but with a serious purpose. Initially cynical, Yasmin Boland has found that the methods she describes really work and interested readers can contact her at her website. Although the book can be read by anyone, it is aimed specifically at the single heterosexual woman and is designed to help her attract a mate through various techniques such as visualization, feng shui, positive affirmation, drawings, writing a wish list and, somewhat controversially, spells. Other chapters concentrate on the art of seduction and creating the right energy. Some suggestions need to be carefully considered, such as attracting a lover by leaving a trail of red roses leading to your door, but most of the advice seems eminently practical. At first the reader may be sceptical but, as the author points out, some of the Eastern practices included are thousands of years old, and affirmations are similar to novenas which Catholics have used for years; you only need to pick up a local paper to find them in the personal column. The book is illustrated with quirky drawings, diagrams and stories of unusual events which have happened to the author and to friends. Some of it will tap into the reader's intuition; for example, we all know how much better we feel after we have tidied up and thrown out items we haven't used in years, and this is an essential part of feng shui. Whether you end up believing in the methods described or not, you will find this book entertaining and thought-provoking. (Kirkus UK)
