A wonderfull Mind.
I was sucked in by DDG over a year ago and was really looking forward to Doll Parts. When Wayne mentioned that he had another book comming out by name of FLU
From Snow Books my excitment rose even more. I have talked with Wayne over the last year on this site, Facebook and though E-Mail. The more i got to know Wayne the more i loved this guy. His strait forward, unselfish, whitty yet friendly persona is additcting and comforting. His mind is a wonderfull thing full of Lewis Carroll wonders and Lovecraftien evils.
FLU, was a wonderfull move up from his last book DDG. If you have read DDG you know how good Waynes skills as a story teller already were........You have only witnessed the Begining!! FLU is another dramatic tale full of the things that make you wonder about your own mind. The conficts between charecters personalitys, upbringing, social statice, even looks are bought to you in full glory. Wayne can find a way to make you love and hate people all at the same time. They are him....they are all of us.
Bringing the world of Nothern Irerland to life with all it's charm and dark history like i have never seen, Wayne hooks you into his world. Add in a few hundered thousand flesh eating wondering stinky Zombies and you have another work of pure art by dare is say........a Horror Master. Thank you Wayne for another nightmare i never wish to wake from. Bruce in Maine.
Had to rush this, so please forgive my spelling. by Bruce S Micucci Forget Swine Flu, here comes Zombie Flu.
This isn't the most original book you're ever going to read. In many way this book reminded me a lot of the film 28 Days Later. The zombies in this are not driven by rage, but by hunger, and perhaps by a need for warmth. Simmons never actually explains what is driving his zombies, there are just hints in their behaviour. This is true of many other aspects of the story as well, and when I reached the end I still had a lot of questions which hadn't been answered. This left me feeling a little unsatisfied, but because I enjoyed the book so much, what I really wanted was a sequel. I don't know if any is planned, but I would certainly buy it.
In summary Flu is a belligerent little number. An easy to read, action packed blast of zombie shenanigans, that I thoroughly enjoyed. Above all I found it a fun read, and unlike the zombie hordes within, it certainly wasn't brain dead. There may be a lot that's never really explained, but what there is remains a highly entertaining addition to the zombie cannon. by Jason Baki
