    Cole does it again5

Fiona Connolly The long awaited Garreth and Lucia story has finally arrived. Ninth instalment of the Immortals After Dark series and still a winner. Often long running series can go stale after so many books but I feel this one is still fresh. This may be due to the ever multiplying secondary characters that appear here and there in each novel, or the fantastic world of the Lore that Cole has built up. Either way, I dont think weve had enough or seen the last of them.

Garreth MacRieve, Prince of the Lykae, finds his mate in the Valkyrie known as Lucia the Huntress and pursues her relentlessly all over the world: from her home town of New Orleans to the sweaty Amazon jungle. As usual, there are barriers between them throughout the story which build suspense and tangible sexual tension such as Lucias dark and dangerous secrets which nearly get them killed. But it is the end that really makes you want more as the series leaps forward and promises more.

The story is pretty predictable, as formulaic romances are, but its the little twists and turns in the plot that make these reads so entertaining and new. So Garreth and Lucia are a little flat at times, having been MIA for the last six books, but the fast paced action and Indiana Jones feel of the novel make up for any lacking. It may not be my favourite book in the series but it is no where near my least. The fact that Im itching for the next on I take as a good sign. by Fiona Connolly
