Reviews for The Road to Rome
Road to Rome
This is the first Ben Kane book I have read and, on the strength of it, I will not be bothering with any more. He writes like so many modern writers do giving detailed descriptions of the surroundings and what people are thinking. I do not need to know the in's and out's of the cat's backside, just that the cat has a backside and it works. For me this book is 150 to 200 pages too long. I also found irritating that Roman (Latin) words of description are in italics, i.e. 'gladius'. Maybe I am being too severe, after all it only cost 50p at the second hand book stall in the local hospital. by John B.Cuthbert
