    helena leipnik Up front I am a fan of Elizabeth Moon.
    Have read all her books and for the most part enjoy them all.
    This is a return to the world of Paks and well worth the wait.
    If you want more Paks then this is not it. But if you wondering what happened to the villians of the previous series then this new tale is a banquet.
    Both my husband and I read it and loved it.
    Dorrin steps up to being the lead character well. You appreciate her struggle with greatness thrust upon her and her desire to do her "job" well.
    The characterisation of active evil and passive acceptance of evil is told well as is the overcoming of that evil by hard work first and foremost. There is no magic lotto ticket here to solve all the problems.
    At the end you will be left counting the days till the next book arrives in the mail. by helena leipnik
