Oh My Books! Review
I love the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter, so Heist Society was on my wishlist since it was published.
Kat and her family are thieves. Although she has helped her father to steal, now she wants to have a new life where she can go to school and just be a regular girl. But it's difficult to run from your life while your father is being accused of stealing to a dangerous Italian millionaire. It's in her hands to find the paintings stolen and give them back, to save her father's life.
I liked the idea of thieves, but I loved that Kat felt guilty about it. All members of her family are thieves, even her best friend Hale. It's not easy to come back to the family business while everybody is judging you.
What I love about this author is that her books aren't just another love story. Obviously there is a possible romance between Kat and Hale, but the book doesn't focus only on that.
Although is was interesting the theme about thieves and plans to steal, I think the characters needed to be more developed. Kat is a girl everyone will like and probably any girl can relate to her. Hale has more personality, as her cousin Gabrielle.
Heist Society is an interesting book, original and easy to read. I definitely recommend it if you want to read something different. It's the first book of the Heist Society series, but the next one, Uncommon Criminals, is already available. by Maria Guajardo (GABY) -

Kat used to lead a life of danger before she pulled her biggest con ever and walked away from a life of thievery to attend boarding school. Her enrollment lasts a few months before her old life comes crashing in on her and her plans.
She's framed for a prank she didn't commit, but that will nonetheless result in her expulsion from school. Quickly she realizes this dismissal is the work of an old family friend. He's here to tell her that her master thief father needs her help.
Turns out her father's been set up, too. Only the consequences are nowhere near as soft as being kicked out of boarding school.
Kat secretly meets her father's deadly enemy and works out a deal. She has two weeks to find the paintings and steal them back. If successful, it will be the biggest job she'll ever pull off - and also the most dangerous. Can she do it?
I adore THE GALLAGHER GIRLS series, but this new series may be even better. HEIST SOCIETY is my new favorite book. The combination of finding the art, the major heist, saving a relative, and going against the family makes for a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat read.

Engaging YA read
I enjoyed every word of it, all the Kat/Hale exchanges were memorable quotes! And the chemistry between the two of them, oh wow! The characters were interesting and likeable so I had no chance but to fall for them. I especially liked Kat, the way she was innocent but cunning, vulnerable but strong, decisive but insecure. (does it make sense?)
The plot was interesting, it wasn't exactly a rollercoaster but it shifted and changed all the time, and it didnīt stop; it caught me from the beginning and didnīt let me go. I enjoyed the criminal background as much as the art references- all the famous paintings and statues..
Itīs like Eoin Colferīs Artemis Fowl, only the main protagonist is a girl, there aren't so many excruciating technical details (and that's a huge compliment, I used to adore Artemis Fowl when I was younger) and it seems more mature.
There is no needless part, no needles paragraph or description, I didnīt fell the urge to skip anything, actually I had to re-read many of them.
On my list: "must-read", "worth-re-reading" and "canīt-wait-for-the-sequel" by Pavli
