  During the reading of this book, I was rationing it, dreading to finish.The England of Henry V111
  here, is a very uncertain time, and Shardlake is caught up in the battle, as well as trying to unravel the several conundums thrown his way.I was enthralled until the very end, never guessing the truth of the several mysteries our lawyer is trying to solve. The King in this book is sick but still feared, and the upper classes and 'nobles' continue to prey on those who are weak and powerless. I found the scene where Shardlake is introduced by the Queen, to the child, Elizabeth, who becomes Elizabeth the first, and the intelligent questions she asks, gives me hope that C.J.Sansom is planning further Shardlake books, with perhaps his integrity and wisdom, used in Elizabeth Regina's employ!? Here's hoping! by Janice Margaret Warne
