Reviews for Universal Waite Tarot Cards
My favourite Tarot deck.
I have been collecting cards (playing cards and Tarot) for years. I have been interested in Tarot for a long time and this was the first Tarot deck I purchased for reading for others.
Most, if not all, Tarot readers will tell you that they feel an affinity or resonance with particular decks. Well, this is certainly mine. Amongst many other decks I have various editions of the Waite, Colman Smith decks, including The Original Rider Waite deck, The Radiant Rider-Waite deck and The Pamela Colman Smith Commerative deck. But for feel and quality, this, The Universal Waite deck is way ahead of the pack.
The artwork from Pamela Colman Smith looks simple, yet is full of hidden and not so hidden symbolism. The pictures certainly tell a story.
Most Tarot readers will be familiar with the A.E.Waite decks, and there are many differently titled decks around. This deck has been re-coloured by Mary Hanson-Roberts and are sumptious. Staying faithful to the Original Rider deck in appearance, they bring out more of the depictions. For example in the Queen of Pentacles card you clearly see a rabbit in the bottom right corner of the card which is less visible in the Original deck.
The card stock quality is excellent giving a smooth shuffle. And the card backs have a lovely gold stars on a dark blue background. These cards ooze quality and beg you to handle and read them.
I also seem to get more information and accuracy using this deck in my readings. Whether you want these cards for divination or an addition to your card collection, you really must see and handle these. Of course it is a personal bond with the cards for divination, but I'm sure most people who are familiar with Tarot will either have this set or one of the other Waite, Colman Smith decks anyway. If you don't have this particular deck, give them a go. by Graham Dixonunder review
