Fire
Another excellent piece from Cashore. I loved this novel and will definitely be reading it again. What impressed me the most was the description of Fire and of all the problems that come from being overly beautiful. I started to become annoyed every time someone tried to run their hands through Fire's hair and I almost threw the book away until I realised that my annoyance was just a fraction of what Fire would be experiencing. In this way, I felt a connection between her and me, I was able to take on her feelings and understand her decisions.
Fire's childhood friend, Archer, was another character that I enjoyed reading about. I didn't like him as much but he was well written and every believable. Cashore makes sure that her characters remain true to their natures and their reactions to the situations are, not predictable but, convincing. by Misty -
Fire by Kristin Cashore
I have just finished this the second book by Krisrin Cashore and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fire is a "monster", she lives in a land where there are "Monsters" living creatures that are in other ways like normal creatures except they are glorious colours with a desire to kill and eat other monsters! Fire is so beautiful people will do ANYTHING for her attention, but she is as beautiful inside and out, and refuses to use her power for wrong-doing. She lives a quiet secluded life to try and protect herself and others from the dreadful things that can be done in her name!
It is very well written, unusual, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author. by Penny Cunningham
