This is my first title with Wiley, and it has a vast range of word search puzzles as well as a lot of other information. There are even instructions on how to write a word search puzzle on your own, with just pencil and paper - very rare 'insider information'!

The first part of the book has detailled instructions on how to solve word searches, with a lot of strategy tips. If you're new to this puzzle genre, you'll learn all the tricks of the trade.

The book is divided into two main sections of puzzles.

Part I has straightforward puzzles in it - simple word searches, story word searches, hidden messages, and - my own invention - hidden shapes! In the Secret Shape puzzles, the word search is presented in a drawn grid. The left over letters are coloured in to reveal a hidden picture.

Part II has more complex puzzles. There are scrambled word lists, quizzes, hidden word lists (with plenty of clues), WinderWords (where words can go around corners), and a chapter of anagram type puzzles, to practice your Scrabble and Boggle skills on!

The rest of the book contains a Hints chapter (at least one hint for every puzzle), an Answers chapter, a chapter on Letter Frequencies (which will improve your word game skills), the benefits of doing word searches, and instructions on how to write your own word search puzzle.

All puzzles come in a range of difficulties, starting with smaller easier puzzles, and working up to harder puzzles within each chapter. There are tons of different themes too, from the Tour de France, world cuisines, baseball, Shakespeare, geography, popular names, the weather, and music (both classical and popular) to science fiction, biology, astronomy, knitting, and even puzzles in French, German and Spanish!

While this book has been written for the American and Canadian market (and hence has American spelling), I am Australian, and have tried my best to have broad world-view in the subjects.

I loved every minute of writing this book, and I hope you enjoy it too!

PS Inevitably some errors slipped through the editing process - there is
an Errata page on my web site. by Denise Sutherland
