  I'm so glad I chose to listen to this on audio as it left both hands free to clap with unadulterated glee at Fforde's surrealist humour. (Just don't get caught like me doing this with a loud guffaw in public!) Like an adult fairy tale but please don't think of traditional princes & rescued maidens in distress this is a perfect holiday listen or a truly life affirming pick-me-up when you feel all around you is too serious. You'll wonder why you left behind all that is curioser & curioser. I loved Fforde's The Fourth Bear but I found this one more 'adult' (is that possible?) & I couldn't help thinking of a hilariously trippy version of "The Bill" when listening to this book. Don't do drugs-try this when you need a break from real life - it's a riotous trip. by Lisa Preston
