Utterly blameless and free of charge
"Blameless" being the centrepiece of Gail Carriger's Parasol Protection series, I had my doubts about the storyline being able to keep up with the pace of the first two installations, as well as the recent rather dramatic changes, yet I have to admit I found this book utterly flawless and so highly entertaining, my inner critic shut up for a change and just let me enjoy the ride. In a very original roundup of inter-marriage drama, turned into an almost forensic adventure that takes Alexia through half of Europe, we learn more about the characters than we ever thought, more about the history and nature of super- and preternaturals, as well as Alexia's unique state of health. An intrigueing and wonderfully funny read that joins superb world building with original fun. The slight insecurities the first two books still showed are fully wiped out, and for a change there are unignorable inclinations of the very serious, deep context that makes the light fun on top even more realistic.
A pleasure of a read if there ever was one. by LadyMacB -

Restoring my faith in the Supernatural Genre
This is another cracking effort by Gail Carriger. We start off with Alexia Maccon stripped of everything (including her title and heavens! her job in the BUR) and forced to flee because something is trying to kill her and she no longer has the protection of her pack.
In this book, we learn a lot more about Preternaturals, a lot more about Supernaturals and a little more about the Continent during that age.
Gail Carriger just keeps pouring out fantastic 'Supernatural' fiction and is keeping my faith in the genre.
Blameless is definitely no Twilight! by Hannah Stewart
