The Distant Hours
This was the first book I have read of Kate Morton?s and I am now converted. I absolutely loved this book. Kate writes with such lyrical poetry and I was able to feel as if I was walking through the castle, hiding in the curtains, listening and learning about the mysteries that entangled their lives. I fell in love with the characters, especially the story of Juniper and Tom Cavill, and Percy and Saffy?s. Which were so haunting and filled with anguish. The way Kate weaves the past and the present is captivating, moving back and forth between 1992 and the 1940?s. I thought I knew what the mystery was and what happened, but I found myself completely wrong.
I am fascinated by the beautiful concept of the book: The Distant Hours, which is used when describing Miderhurst Castle and its past inhabitants. This book was haunting, gothic and beautiful. A recommend read for anyone who enjoys historical literature but even if you don?t, this book invites even the reluctant reader to drink up the pages and be left begging for more . by Rafaela
