Dont be put off by it's size!
This is an eminently readable book. Although it's a lot of pages, don't be put off. The first few chapters are well written, and hook you into the beginnings of this ancient and wonderful city. Through the ages the author takes you on a winding journey, following the fortunes and misdeeds of a group of families. Along the way he throws in fascinating facts and origins of street ,borough names and ancient rituals. Bringing history alive, mixing fact with fiction this truly is a fantastic and epic tale. by Esther Robinson
