  Short story collections are often frustrating and aimless. Bolano's stories blend a transitory sympathy with a distinct interest in the possibilities of a developed novella. I was frustrated that each one was not longer, but isn't that the trick?
  
  As with all great writers, it is the word rather than the implicit plot that attracts. Everyday problems take on significance because we attempt to see in them something of ourselves given a similar situation. Bolano does this.
