Shell Bryce She Shoots...... He Scores!!

Mark Bressler hated the fact that he had to sit in his own living room and watch as HIS team carried the Stanley Cup around the hometown arena. The former captain of the Seattle Chinooks should be happy to be alive after a major car accident but instead all he feels is the continuous pain from his injuries and from the fact that the team continued on without him and replaced him so easily on the team that he helped bring to the highest level of competition. What he didn't need now was another "nurse" to be sent by the team in their attempt to help him cope with his problem..... and he especially didn't need a color-wheel happy pixie to push him into the world of the living again. He had gotten rid of the others easily enough and now he had to find a way to get Chelsea Ross out of his life before she causes him any more trouble.

Chelsea Ross had gone to Hollywood in hopes that she would make her mark on the big screen. The problem was with her size and assets the only jobs that seemed to be coming her way were the slutty chesty girl in slasher movies or dead body number 3 in the current murder drama on the boob tube. When her sister offers her a job assisting an injured hockey superstar she jumps at the chance especially when there was a bonus tagged on the end. A bonus that she was counting on using to take care of the "problems" she had in getting serious parts. She had worked assisting other Hollywood people before and other than fending off a letch or two she knew she could handle one recuperating athlete.....but handling the man won't be smooth skating it will be Nothing But Trouble.

With the pain as a constant reminder of what he had lost, Mark has no interest in the fact that his name will be forever etched in the holy grail of hockey. Dealing with his little assistant every day as she forced him into more and more of a routine he was still bitter about everything to do with his former position with the Chinooks and the constant reminders of it because of their determination to force him into getting better with the aid of the nurses and aids they keep sending him. This one, he knew, was going to be trouble which she proves when his plan to tuck her away doing a tedious job backfires and he finds himself reluctantly opening himself back up to the possibilities he may still have with the game he loves. The icy exterior he has built up over his heart and the pain he has from the crash are both slowly melting away thanks to the sassy little woman but will it be enough when he finds out that she has plans that include a cup (or two) of her own thanks to the bonus she would get if she completed the job. With their relationship on the line, Mark must decide whether to walk away or take the chance and go for the top corner where Moma hides the cookies in hopes that his cheeky little assistant will stay on his team forever.

This book in a continuing series by Rachel Gibson is a breakaway winner. I loved the characters as they played off of each other. Their witty and smart banter, the sexual chemistry and their fun and exciting romance make it yet another superstar addition to my keeper shelf. With a romantic scene that includes champagne, low lights, nudity and the Stanley Cup what (hockey loving) romantic wouldn't love this book. by Shell Bryce
