Reviews for When Your Baby Dies

  • Real comfort from such a little book5

Sally Walker This is a little book. You can read the 48 short pages in an hour or so. It does not go into the same depth of other lengthier books on this subject but its size can make it seem more accessible, especially when you're grieving and doing anything is a struggle.
The book is divided into 6 short chapters, the first two covering "Miscarriage" and "Stillbirth and Newborn Death", followed by chapters looking at how the loss of a baby affects "the Mother", "the Father", and "the Family" (in particular, how grief touches grandparents and siblings), and finally, "Going on from Here". At the end of each chapter there is a list of "Points to Remember" which are practical, useful and supportive.
I bought many books after the death of my daughter as a newborn and whilst by far one of the shortest, this one stays in my mind not least for some of the most comforting words I have read anywhere in answer to the question "am I still a mother, even though my baby died?" Yes, you are still a mother - forever. by Sally Walker
