Travelling through life
Damon is a traveller trying to find connection and meaning - through places and people.
The story consists of dreamlike reminiscences on opportunity and regret that flicker between first person and third person narrative as if to ask the question, did this really happen? Like his compatriot Coetzee, his writing suggests a kind of selectively embellished autobiography.
