marianne Best book ever for first time parents. I had three children who all slept through the night by 6 weeks old using this book. My first child was 3 weeks old and I was tearing my hair out with the " just feed the baby whenever it cries" theory. A friend lent me this book and it was a lifesaver! This book isnt just about getting them to sleep early, it is about setting a routine so that you dont go insane in those first few weeks! Highly recommend! by marianne

Melissa Bellemare This book is not only about controlled crying it is about abuse.

There have been numerous cases of babies that have had insufficient weight gain, Failure to Thrive and even hospitalization because of the advice in this book and there have been warnings about it safety issued by the AAP (American Association of Paediatrics)

It not only has inaccurate and very false information about breastfeeding that often leads to supply issues , It advocates feeding on a strict schedule, or what they call a "flexible routine" and teaches parents that children are master manipulators and that their basic needs (food, comfort etc) are only wants that you should never give into. Playful antidotes advocate pulling a babies hair is they bite you while nursing or hitting a baby with a "stitch" (small branch/stick) if they do not lay in their cot.

The authors tell parents that everything that they are saying is critical to the health and future well being of your child and sets parents up by saying that if you do not follow the advice you are just being manipulated by your child and will have awful kids that never eat, sleep or listen to you and that other parents have no spine.

Please do your research, there are many ex-babywise parents that have shared their heartbreaking stories and look at EZZO.INFO for further information. by Melissa Bellemare

Kylie The babywise series, specificially On Becoming Baby Wise, is a must read! It's set out in an easy to read and refer back to format and the information is based on common sense. I have used it for all 3 of my children (1 of whom was reflux) and had all of them sleeping through (11pm - 7am) by 13 weeks. It is not a book on controlled crying, it is about establishing a routine that works for you. LOVE LOVE LOVE Babywise!! by Kylie
