Reviews for The New York Trilogy
What's this git on about?
Is this tryptich of stories a treatise on the psychology of obsession? An erudite discussion of whether madness is the cause or the effect of being a writer? A clever metaphore for life and the condition of man?
B@!!$~ed if I know. I do know it took a dogged determination to wade through the endless repetitive waffle, surreal action and boring descriptive passages where not much of anything happened. I thought, "Pay your dues and you're sure to arrive at some kind of denouement or at least a sage moral to take away with you".
Sadly however, there was no payoff. Well played Mr Auster. You got me. by Dan Cater
