Reviews for Manguel Alberto : History of Reading
Read it for readings sake
Mangurl Alberto is one of those people whose love of books and things literary are an inspiration to those of us who see reading as a vocation. His very personal examination of reading and books while informative and entertaining is much more. It is a joyful hymn of praise to all things literary.
I read this book not only capturing glimpses of very enaging readers and authors through history, but also seeing the development in Manguel's love of books.
I enjoyed the sense of companionship with him as I nodded in agreement about certain books and noted some I have not read - but now will! His enthusiasm and eclectic choices have challenged my reading horizons. by martin
