A great GLBT fantasy that doesn't rush into a storm of UST and smut. Seregil and Alec share a slow-building relationship, from strangers to master-apprentice, to close friends and equals. The relationship plot does not push aside the fleshed-out minor characters and their web of complex motives, while the adventure plot is well thought out, and not overshadowed by relationship angst. A great first novel to a series that promises well-paced action, strong personalities, and a budding romance built on friendship and trust rather than pure UST and lust. Compelling
I could not praise The Nightrunner enough. It consistently had me at the edge of my seat, biting my nails with such vivid suspense. The characters are honest and believable. You quickly grow attached and it makes you concerned for their safety. Even if you are not an emotional masochist, it has enough passionate content to make anyone giggle and blush. The relationship between the main characters is touching - and at times silly, cute, or even dramatic. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially the GLBTTQ community.
Seregil í Korit Solun Meringil Bôkthersa (better known as Lord Seregil) is a character that is as interesting and complex as his name sounds. Flewelling evidently put a keen amount of care and attention into the development the protagonist. The depth behind him creates a well-rounded and balanced identity. There is a certain unpredictability that keeps his actions fresh. It is a pleasure to join him on his journey for he makes for wonderful entertainment.
Rambling about my affections for this book is only the tip of the iceberg; to fully comprehend the perfection of this series you must read it. I can safely state that this is my favorite book! by Serith
