Reviews for The Left Hand of Darkness
an extremely good book
"I think the worst book ever title given by one reviewer just may reflect the limit of their experience because there is truly a vast amount of trash out there.
It is not an easy or a comfortable read and I would think it is more cut out for people who like something more than just an action story. I read it first out of all the Hainish novels and I must say I enjoyed it more the second time round after I had read the other novels of this Universe. Le Guin manages to give us something new and food for thought in every novel and this one is a piece of concise writing rich with imagination. Another thing I like about her is the way she really thinks through to the finer points and detailed implications of the world she herself has created.
I think some people I have talked to about this have been led astray by Le Guin's being described as a Sci-Fi writer: which she is, but this is no Asimov or Clarke etc (I enjoy them as well but its another world).
In my opinion, the weakest was the newest one "The Telling" but even that would be far from being the "worst book ever"." by a Book Depository customer
