• Good romance, incomplete fantasyBook rating: 4

  This book is more romance than fantasy despite its medieval setting. The author clearly had some plans for an epic fantasy but let them languish, making this book feel very incomplete. There is an off page war that is not even slightly resolved, hints of some underlying religious clash but no sense of the beliefs of the opponents, and the foretold future of Aveline has not come to pass by the end of the book. In addition, the future of the main characters is somewhat precarious. Nevertheless, the book works well as a romance, with well developed characters and realistic development of a relationship. by Jennifer Badham
