  • HUNTING LILA- A story that convinces with its great arsenal of weapons: guns, tricks of the mind and abs!5

MissPageTurner This story totally got me from the first page on. HUNTING LILA has one of the most thrilling first scenes I've read in a long time. Let me tease you with its first sentence:

"Only when the tip of the knife started to shave against the white of his eye like a scalpel about to pierce a boil, did I realise that I was the one holding it."

HUNTING LILA is charged with an overall tension concerning the murder of Lila's mother. It's about self- awareness, discovering your feelings and the mysterious incidents of the past.
There's a lot of action. Then we've got a love story blooming between Lila and Alex. Small hints and approaches, but still I could need some more of Alex. He's totally swoon-worthy caring and selfless.

Lila is one female protagonist I grew to like so much. She's that combative psych chick with superpowers. And she can be touch but also totally sweet when it comes to her love for Alex.
The fact that Alex is the best friend of Lila's brother Jack and that they have a dangerous secret made the whole love story even more interesting. You know how protective big brothers can be! Sarah Alderson found a really believable way to write about a forbidden love between Alex and Lila without inventing sappy or unrealistic explanations. She equipped the story of HUNTING LILA with a grand and versatile character cast.

You'll never know who to trust or after which page turn to expect the next shocking moment or attack thrown at you. Sarah Alderson writes with wit and a good sense for just the right amount of mystery, action and love.

It's Sarah Alderson's great writing that lets the story flow so naturally and easily. I read the book in one day and wouldn't have minded staying up the whole night to read its sequel if it'd been out already.

    THE VERDICT

HUNTING LILA has it all: action-packed plot twists and turns, mysterious conspiracies and a sweet as sexy love story. Sarah Alderson presents a debut that you should definitely hunt down ASAP. by MissPageTurner

    An absolute FAVOURITE!5

    Mimi Valentine **AN ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE!!**

Every once in a while you read a book that swipes you off your feet and takes you on an action-packed, perfectly romantic, and totally heart-pounding ride that you never want to get off of - that's exactly what Hunting Lila was like! I loved everything about it!

From the very first page, Sarah Alderson sucks you into a super-cool world with various types of psychics like Lila. The way she describes things makes you feel like you're actually a part of the book, which makes all the cool things even cooler and all the intense things exponentially more intense.

Lila is one of those characters I know everyone will adore as much I do. She's stubborn, witty, fun, vulnerable yet still totally kick-butt when she needs to be! And her childhood romance with Alex - who nearly tops my Boys I Wish Were Real list! ♥ - is the best kind of romance out there: sweet, realistic, swoon-worthy, and 100% free of insta-love! It was perfection!

Well-crafted, fast-paced, and engaging to the core, Hunting Lila is a book that I'll recommend to everyone I know! It will suck you in until the last page is turned and leave you craving for more. The sequel, Losing Lila, can't come fast enough!

BUY or BORROW?: Definitely and completely and absolutely a book worth every penny! Buy it for sure, and you'll want to read it over and over again like me! :) by Mimi Valentine

  • Great book and great ending!4

Alaiel Kreuz For some reason I've been delaying this book over an over again but finally I decided to read it a few days ago and I was very very pleased with it.

After being robbed Lila panics... she is afraid of herself. Despite the fact that being robbed can be very scary she panics because instead losing her stuff she was about to cut one of her attackers's eyeball. Kind of groos if you ask me but that's what happens if you have telekinesis and don't know how to control it, right?
Anywho, before doing it she realizes what was about to happen and stops. Then makes a decision: she is tired of being in England, her house, her real house, is in US with her brother and Alex who is her brother's best friend and her secret crush.
So, without telling her dad she takes off and lands in California. Finally home... finally next to Alex. But she is afraid they will question why is she there and discover her secret.

But something seems off when, after the visit of a cute girl, her brother -who works for a secret agency called The Unit- places a lot of security around her. Finally he spills the beans: Ales and he have been tracking down the people who killed their mom and looks like they will catch them soon.
The only problem is... these people are like Lila, they have unique abilities and her brother and Alex's job is to take them down so The Unit can study them. Will she turn into their next job? Would they experiment with her too?

    Personal opinion:
This first book is full of action and romance. The pace was good: not to fast, not to slow, it fit the plot perfectly.
Lila, being a teenager and all is actually very funny and clever. She tries her best to help people and is not quick to judge others. Her insecurities were very real too and her love for Alex muy cute.

For Jack and Lila the day her mother died a lot of things changed, not only their dad decided to move to England and take Lila but also Jack quit college with Alex and enter The Unit seeking for revenge and we, readers, feel their pain and understand their reasons.

The best thing about this book? The ending. What a fantastic twist!!! I simply loved it! Since I do no spoilers I can't say really much about it but trust me in this: the minute I can get my hand in the second book I'm going to buy it, sit quietly in my reading corner and on't stop until I finish it. by Alaiel Kreuz

  • Baddassery, super powers and hot boys!5

Brodie You know those books that you finish and then instantly want to go back and reread all over again? Hunting Lila is just that and then some! I was hooked from the very first page. It's not often you kick start a story with the protagonist using telekinesis to hold a knife to the tip of someones eye. This book is all kinds of badass. Don't worry though, Lila isn't psycho, she's defending herself from the jerks trying to mug her. That one incident sets in motion Lila's page-turning adventure that will suck you in with it's fantastic action, way cool superpowers and deliciously seductive romance.

Straight after the mugging incident, Lila makes a run for it. She jumps on a plane out of the country and heads to Southern California where her brother, Jack, and his best friend Alex are living. Both boys work for a top secret organisation known as The Unit. There's something mysterious going on with the case they're working on. Surely the constant supervision by stalkery SUV cars and high-tech security system on the house aren't standard? Granted, they work a dangerous job, but Lila senses something more going on here and she's determined to find out what. Mystery, danger, twists, action and superpowers litter the pages and you're left begging for more.

Alex has been her brother's best friend since childhood and Lila's been in love with him for just as long. It's been three years since she last saw him and now suddenly she's thrust herself back into his world and oh, her emotions are so pitch perfect. The war that rages within her mind any time they're close together, she can't control her thoughts when she's around him and it's so much fun to read. She knows she's a lost cause, she accepts it, admits it's bad. But you honestly can't fault her, because hello, have you met the guy? Her feelings are totally justified! I loved the relationship developed at a comfortable pace, you become wrapped up in their budding romance, waiting, waiting, waiting for the moment when Alex will admit to the feelings that surely he reciprocates, right?! You just want a kiss! A declaration of mutual love, a hot steamy scene between the pair! And isn't that what we love? A tantalising romance and Sarah delivers just that.

Hunting Lila was such a refreshing read. The atmosphere, the setting, the romance, the pacing, the characters and the plot... Sarah twisted it all together to form something that felt so new and utterly addictive. I honestly would not have been able to put this book down had I tried. Which I most certainly did not because it kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what would happen next to these characters I grew so invested in and their pulse-racing journey, narrated by such a likable protagonist. Sarah Alderson is officially on my list of favourite authors. I think I'd instantly buy anything new she comes out with. I cannot wait to get my hands on Hunting Lila's sequel and of course, her awesome new series, Fated, which comes out next year! The wait for both of these books is already torturous.

Also: This book seriously needs to be made into a movie. Because I think it would translate ridiculously awesome to the big screen by Brodie
