  As a person who rarely enjoys fiction I say "buy this book". To my mind one of the best stories I have read. The film with John Travolta & Dennis Farina will give you an excellent taste (as they convey the characters so brilliantly) but the film omits a good deal of the plot and minutae so important to the story. Leonard's cracking pace style and very simple yet so effective story telling technique is almost addictive. I rate this book as a 5 as it's so good.
