  Shirley Hughes has a knack for facial expressions - they are always exactly right! What's not to like about her books? Wonderful illustrations and great story-lines - and Dogger tops the lot.
  This is a beautiful book about a boy whose soft-toy dog goes missing and turns up on the sale table at the school fete. Horrors - it is purchased by another child! Here those wonderfully realistic facial expressions I've already mentioned come into play as you see the boy's older sister struggling and finally making a self-sacrificing decision which returns Dogger to it's rightful owner. by Esther Allen
