Beautiful love story
This book was exciting and so romantic! Paris!! Ooo la la! I'm one of those romantics that thinks it would be dreamy to visit Paris one day.
Kate was sixteen, almost seventeen, and her sister Georgia was almost eighteen. Their parents died, and they moved from Brooklyn to live with their grandparents in Paris, France! Luckily, from summers of visiting Paris, they already knew French and the area. Plus, outgoing Georgia already had tons of friends. I enjoyed the sister dynamic. It was real. Kate and Georgia loved each other even though they fought sometimes and were complete opposites. I loved how they were always there for each other. Georgia was cute and spunky, a fun side character.
Vincent was nineteen and completely charming. I also liked his guy friends Ambrose and Jules. They were fun and entertaining to have around. Charlotte was a sweetheart, and I hope to see her more in the next book.
Revenants was a unique idea. I really enjoyed finding out all the rules to the revenant world. A revenant was basically someone who could die for others and come back to life. There's more to it of course so you'll have to read to find out. I highly recommend you check this book out. It was great!

DIE FOR ME- A new paranormal concept mixed with the perfect setting and likeable characters resulsts in a sweet new YA novel with heart!
DIE FOR ME centres around a new concept of paranormal being, the revenants, whose existence is caused by nobility on the one hand and by hatred and anger on the other hand.
We get to meet protagonists Kate and Vicent and their families.Our heroine is very likely, with a modest and caring character, our male protagonist can be described as a very gentle, understanding and sexy Frenchman.
The relationship is really sweet , I am already eager to read more about them and how they are interacting together, always very cautious although there is not really a need to.
I sense a love triangle emerging, which could hold some difficulties since the potential charmeur is also a good friend of Vincent.
Set in Paris, DIE FOR ME takes us on a trip through the atmospheric and lovely capital of France. Amy Plum worked out a fantastic map of locations and settings by wandering the streets and sharing her favourite spots with her readers.
Plum's writing is solid and entertaining. She doesn't bore her readers with dragging dialogues, but keeps them sweet and short. She involves some popular culture references which make DIE FOR ME also a youthful read.
At some points DIE FOR ME was a bit slow paced, there are some moments with very few progress for the plot. But I see that DIE FOR ME as it is the first novel in a series is mostly to explain its concept of revenants and introduce its lovely characters. At the moment I cannot see where this story is heading, but that's exactly what makes it an exciting read.
THE VERDICT
This novel by debut author Amy Plum is like a box of petit fours filled with sweet romance and Parisian esprit, layered with dark enemies and finished with a tasty fantasy frosting. Hungry? Go get DIE FOR ME and give this new taste a try. by MissPageTurner30 Nights Insomniac Reviews

The synopsis is actually quite accurate, which is why I'm not going to summarize it myself. Instead I'm going to say something about the audiobook. I was extremely annoyed at the fake French accent that was used when pretty much anyone spoke (since the book takes place in France most people speak French ... or English with an accent). It was probably supposed to make it more interesting or something, but it just annoyed me. I'd have liked it better if it had been read in normal English.
Like many other reviews have mentioned, the plot and the people are similar to Twilight. The heroine is slightly appalled at moving to another location, when she accidentally meets this so-hot-he's-sizzling guy who of course nearly immediately falls for her. She has a guardian that is no real guardian at all and older than she is (reading books 17-year-olds normally wouldn't even know about). Most of the family of Vincent of course likes her immdiately (like Charlotte and Jules, think Emmet and Alice in Twilight) while two are slightly reserved/mean (Charles and Jean Baptiste, or Jasper and Rosalie). So, yeah. Quite a few similarities. Amy Plum said though, that she wrote Die For Me after watching the movie to Twilight because she "wanted more Edward". That sure explains a lot.
Still, while I don't like Twilight, I did like Die For Me. I like the original take on ... what Vincent is. And while I immediately recognized the villain for what he was (like ... the first time he was mentioned) it was still pretty intimidating.
What I absolutely HATED was the exceptional things. Wow it's so rare this and that happens and then of course it happens to Kate and Vincent (also, I'm tired of plain first names). If this and that happens, the person usually dies but of course Kate doesn't. And of course Kate doesn't think she's beautiful when in turn she is so beautiful (apparently) that she turns heads.
So yeah. I like the general idea. I like some of the characters (like Charlotte and Gaspard) but it's just too ... too much. Too similar to Twilight, too exceptional (weird thing to be) and too ... cheesy. I mean, Kate becomes depressive when she's without Vincent. The characters in Die for Me were great. There were quite a few but each were relatable in a different way, had their own distinctive personalities and traits and each were lovable for different reasons.
The description of Paris in this book was really great. I loved how every time I read about the cafes and streets of Paris I could imagine everything. Especially towards the end of the book. It's kind of magical.
What I didn't like about this book was how little action was in it. When there was a bit of action, however, it wasn't dispersed throughout the story very well so when it did happen it was unrealistic and unsurprising.
Of course, I have to mention the idea of the book being about 'Revenants'. Revenants were pretty cool and original which kept me reading to the end of the book.
Overall though I would recommend this read and it's a quick easy book to pass the time. by Maryam HDie for Me

Despite the gorgeous cover and the super-sweet love story, Die for Me was a bit on the meh side.
I liked the setting (the use of French words and names added a touch of elegance and romanticism to the story), I didn't mind the protagonist, Kate, and I absolutely loved Vincent, though not as much as I did Jules. BTW, do I detect the possibility of a love triangle between Vincent, Kate and Jules? Jules's love seems a more brotherly one, but, you know, you never know :)
That considered, the plot was flat and uneventful for most of the book and I was expecting a little more of action and world building, while the story concentred more on Vincent and Kate's relationship. The concept of the revenants was rather interesting, though, and I'm eager to discover more about their history.
I hope in the next installments we'll get to know more about the secondary character and Vincent as well and that we'll see a serious development in the main characters' relationship. Also, I'd like the author to focus on the battle between revenants and numas, because I think it wasn't developed enough.

Romantic, Refined & Refreshing
Just as I thought there would be nothing as interesting in the myths of faeries, vampires and werewolves, Amy Plum wrote a striking, refreshing debut that features revenants that captures my attention immediately. Revenants are defined as "undead beings whose fate forces them to sacrifice themselves over and over again to save the lives of others". However, there will be darkness where there is light - a group of evil revenants called the numa work in the opposite way - they destroy lives whenever it is possible. I find this new concept of immortality captivating as I've never read anything like this before. And it is presented in such a way that you'd feel glad to soak up whatever information that is offered in the book.
Our heroine, Kate retreats into her shell of loneliness and despair ever since her parents died in an accident. She finds solace in reading books and visiting art museums. Then, she meets a remarkably handsome French guy named Vincent by chance. And I bet you know what happens next - they fall in love with each other. As Kate learns about Vincent's secret, her rationality makes her question her heart's desire to be with him. She is afraid that she won't be able to face the deaths that revenants have to go through every time they save a live.
My favourite character in this book has to be Kate Mercier. She copes with her parents' death by delving into fantastical worlds in books. Although she never realize it, she is actually mentally strong and determined when it comes to protecting her loved ones. The villain in this story is quite a clever one. He knows how to use strategies to trick, manipulate and deceive. The fighting scenes in this book are real and gritty, and more than once I find myself praying for our determined but nonetheless feeble Kate's survival.
The French setting in this book is breathtaking - I would love to visit France someday to see for myself the magnificence of the Eiffel Tower, stroll around the streets of Paris, visit the art museums that display famous artworks and have some coffee at a classic French café (and maybe date a French boy! Haha!). Everything sounds so nice that I can't help but imagine myself at the places Kate goes to.
Oliver Wendell Holmes says that love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness. I think this suits Kate's situation. It is when she finds love that she becomes happy once again. Vincent is the perfect boy for Kate - he's understanding, caring, loving and drop-dead gorgeous. What more could a girl ask for?
In a few words, Die for Me is a romantic, refined and refreshing take on the modern young adult paranormal genre. If you want to read something new and original, remember to pick up a copy of Die for Me when you visit a bookstore. You won't be disappointed. by Aik AMAZING A++++++

The Characters are all great and the book is well written!! Vincent being an undead (zombie) definatly puts a different storyline to the book :)

Enthralling from the beginning to end, romance readers will love `Die for Me'.
Kate Mercier, a sixteen years old American girl, had been through a lot: her parents died in a car accident recently. It was decided that Kate and her older sister must live with their grandparents in Paris, France, in order to heal the grief and move on into a new life.
But someone caught her attention, a handsome Parisian boy called Vincent, who will change her life forever. Trapped between her world and a new one introduced by Vincent, she'll discover that love is nothing but simple.
Try to remember what you felt when you're under water. Now imagine that one minute had passed, and now you need air. The first gasp of fresh air left you wishing for more; that's how I felt when I read `Die for Me'. I cannot remember the last time I had read such a marvelous, beautiful story.
I always put up a struggle with the main character; instead, Kate gets through my front and I sympathize with her instantly. It took all her strength to carry on with what was left in her life, and the way she did it gave her all my appraisement as the Best Main Character ever, and I'm not exaggerating, because there wasn't any flaw in Kate, anything that make me disagree with her or dislike her.
I had remembrances of Edward Cullen through Vincent Delacroix, but not in a bad way (this is not a Twilight's review, but I must said that Edward was NOT the perfect man). Unlike Edward, or the male characters from other books, Vincent was NEVER a coward, selfish or an egocentric guy with a hot & cold attitude toward the girl of the story. But Vincent had a secret that caught him between the devil and the deep blue sea... his happiness or fulfill his fate? Of course, I am so in love with Vincent!
Now, the plot: where did this idea come from? (Rhetorical question; read the Q&A from Amy Plum's web page). I had never heard about something like this, and although the Immortals take scenario in `Die for Me', the whole idea of Them was so original and fresh, and by now, I was flabbergasted by Plum's creation -the development of the events and their flow through the entire book make me wanting for more and more.
Sometimes it takes me less time to read a book because, and this is kind of embarrassing, I go through it without truly read all the dialogues with the other characters; I have little patience for non-sense conversations. But in `Die for Me', I found myself re-reading dialogues from Jules (particularly Jules! And yes, I have a crush on him, too), Charlotte and Ambrose. I have a good vibe about Jules; I hope we'll have MORE about him than we do now.
I cannot find anything wrong about this book; you MUST get your own copy! I can't wait for the second book! by Astrid Atehortúa
