Full description for Die Hellenistischen Und Romischen Wohnhauser Von Pergamon

  • Pergamon is one of the most significant antique sites in Asia Minor, and research has hitherto concentrated principally on its sacred and public buildings. The present study gives the first account of the whole of the private architecture of the ancient city; it is based on an archaeological survey and reconstruction of the dwelling houses and public buildings of a representative section of the city. The excavations were conducted between 1976 and 1980, and the dating of the buildings reveals a rapid succession of phases of settlement, thus enabling a more differentiated picture to be gained of the development of the city. Comprehensive research into private dwellings and their urban context gives a detailed idea of living styles in a metropolis in Asia Minor from the Hellenistic Period until Late Antiquity.
