• This collection brings together the poems U.A. Fanthorpe has been sending out to friends as Christmas cards since 1974. Along with some previously unpublished poems, readers can enjoy her yearly output in its entirety. Here are a broad range of seasonal characters, angels and personified Christmas trees, and a variety of styles to match. She is witty and highly original, rethinking the Christmas story from quirky angles, to create her own alternative Christmas legend. These poems are celebrations of Christmas joy and love. Awarded the C.B.E. in 2001, U.A. Fanthorpe was the first woman to be nominated for the post of Professor of Poetry at Oxford. This is her eighth collection.
