• Why only 2 stars?Book rating: 2

  This was brilliantly written, and immediately engaging. So why have I given it only 2 stars? It was the story-line that became bleaker and bleaker, but not until I couldn't possibly stop. I finished it feeling not only unhappy, but angry. I have read and enjoyed books with sad endings, and usually they feel sad but inevitable, the way it had to be. This one was different. I don't mind gratuitous sex (not that this book had any) but I do resent gratuitous misery. by Lucas
