  It is very difficult to understand how Blackout/All Clear won awards such as the Hugo and gained such accolades from the science fiction community. As a single book it may have been an average albeit self-indulgent read but as two books it was long-winded and extremely boring. It was a struggle to read. The characters were annoying at best. The plot is dull, flat and lifeless. Don't bother. by David Banham
