Reviews for The Art of Bead Embroidery
Outstanding and Inspiring!
If ever you look for one book on bead embroidery than this should cover it. A great example of inspiring talent in the form of two very accomplished bead artists who openly share their wisdom on the fine details of this art form which are unusually hard to find elsewhere.
This glossy paged book is filled with photos that will see you itching to get started which is great as the detailed list of easily obtainable materials is pleasantly short. Included are details of how to transform a few everyday household items into handy tools.
The ultimate attraction with this book is showing the two authors alternate ways of achieving the same outcome, paving way for your own confidence in experimentation with a not too many rules approach which I believe every artist would appreciate deeply.
Surprisingly the projects are plentiful and very generous. I have found with other beading books some projects are often basic, outdated and a tad disappointing whereas there is not one project here I would not want to attempt creating. All are very unique designs with room to add your own special touches. Also the book is finished perfectly with an inspiration gallery of both artists work to kick start your imagination.
Techniques covered include stitches, finishing and fringe.
Design aspects covered include, inspiration, design, colour and texture.
Projects include a vintage belt buckle, free-form brooch, paisley earrings, art pendant, half inch moon cuff, ammonite collar, ammonite box, porcelain pendant, sterling cuff bracelet with cabochons, trilobite earrings, tree frog pin and ancient spirals collar.
I can see this will be referred to as a resource and wealth of inspiration for years to come, I love it! The authors have done an excellent job. by Michelle Poore
